Located adjacent to the Great Sugarloaf in Co. Wicklow, the Shankill Radio Flying Club was established in the 1950’s by a small group of enthusiastic modelers living in the Shankill area in south county Dublin. Since its humble beginnings the club has grown in size drawing members from far and wide. Our flying site is regarded as one of the best model flying sites in the Dublin/Wicklow area.

The principal activity of the club is the promotion of radio control model flying of all types. We welcome members of all ages, and will work closely with parents / guardians of junior members wishing to start out and enjoy the hobby at a young age.
Our members are active in all disciplines of the hobby including scale models, extreme aerobatic, ‘pattern’ models, jets and helicopters.
Spectators are always welcome! Please see rates here.
Flying takes place throughout any given week with the majority taking place most Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year, weather permitting. We provide experienced instructors to fully support and guide pilots of all ages and capability.
SRFC members fly all kinds of Aircraft, spanning in size from 60” models to those in excess of 120”. Power systems vary from electric to petrol. Knowledge is shared between all club members, advice and practical assistance is given to all new members on the field.
Events are run throughout the flying season for its members with a strong emphasis on participation. These range in format from fly-in ‘open’ events that include other MACI affiliated clubs from across the country to SRFC only events that carry perpetual trophy’s. All events are relaxed, fun, family friendly and a great way to bring club members together.
